Oíche Shamhna

Taibhse is cailleach,
Tine cnámh,
Cnónna is milseáin
Úll ar snáth.
Téimid timpeall
Ó theach go teach
Ithimíd úlla is báirín breac.

Oíche Shamhna, fleadh sa teach.
Úlla, cnónna is bairín breac.
Hataí Páipéir, eadaigh ghlé,
Sport is spraoí againn go léir
Cailleach dána, ar an saol,
Fanaimis istigh ó bhaol.

An Chailleach

An bhfaca tú an chailleach?
Chonaic mise í,
Lena srón mór fada,
Is a fiacla gránna buí.
Hubail rubail bubail,
Hubail rubail bubail.

An bhfaca tú an chailleach?
Chonaic mise í,
Lena cat mór fada,
Ar an scuab ina shuí,
Hubail rubail bubail,
Hubail rubail bubail

SESE: Science - Teeth

We are learning about teeth this week. First and Second class brought in their toothbrushes and toothpaste and we talked about how we brush our teeth and why it is so important to get into good habits when we are young.
Here are some useful websites about teeth.

Halloween Art - Spooky Trees

We are getting into the Halloween Spirit in school this week. The decorations are up and the school is getting spookier and more ghoulish by the day. We are learning Dánta Gaeilge, Halloween Songs, Making Spooky Nests, we are reading stories such as Winnie the Witch by Korky PaulRoom on the Broom by Julia Donaldson, Meg and Mog and FunnyBones
Check out the Scoilnet Halloween Themepage here

Here we are making Halloween Spooky Trees. First we painted our spooky sunsets. The next session we painted our spooky trees. We tried to use the straw painting technique. To create this we added water to black paint and blew this in the direction that the twigs and branches would grow. There was a lot of huffing and puffing involved. Then we stick on some white dot stickers that are spooky creatures looking out from the shadows.
We spotted a Leckaun's own Spooky Tree of our own in the field up past the bank today!
