SCHOOL PLAY.
Our School drama is called "Scrooge, A Ghost of a Chance". Every pupil in the school will be a member of the cast. The play will be performed for one night only on Wednesday the 16th of December at 7.00 pm in Newtownmanor Hall. All are welcome. Have a look at our specially designed programme.

Flag Presentation in Leckaun N.S.
Brat na h-Éireann was presented to the pupils of Leckaun N.S. by members of Custume Barracks, Athlone , Infantry Battalion .
Following a Musical Performance and the reading of The Proclamation, we sang Amhrán na bhFiann.
This ceremony was part of the Flags For Primary Schools Initiative 2016. We have undertaken to compose our own Proclamation and to raise the flag on March 15th 2016.

Digital School of Distinction Application
Today in Leckaun National School we had a special visitor from the Digital Schools of Distinction Team, Noel Sheerin. We were able to show Mr. Sheerin the different ways we use technology in our school. This was demonstrated through video, on our SMART Boards, on the Visualiser, on iPads, artwork and through demonstration of updating our website and Google Apps such as Google calendar and Google Docs integration as used on our website. Pupils and teachers have worked hard over a number of years towards this award.
When Mr. Sheerin left in the afternoon the Senior Room enjoyed PE in the lovely sunny weather and the Junior Room worked on the Big Cat Interactive eBooks on the iPads by reading, recording and creating their own stories. Well done to everyone, what a great day of celebrating technology in our school!

We work on some of the Collins Big Cat Interactive books to on the iPads. We recorded ourselves reading the story and created our own stories too. It was funny listening to our voices on the iPad.
Junior Infants Induction will take place on Thursday 27th May 2015.

Technology in Leckaun National School
We are very busy preparing for our Digital School of
Distinction Inspection. The Digital Schools of Distinction programme is an accreditation,
which primary schools can attain by demonstrating excellence in their approach
to the integration of ICT in learning and teaching. The benefits of receiving
this accreditation include access to an ICT support network, a toolkit to
develop an ICT plan for every school, links with other schools in Ireland and
external recognition through a nationally recognised award. More information can be found at the Digital Schools of Distinction website.
